Hi, my name is Charles Vaz; I am from Boston Massachusetts & I'm currently finishing up my bachelor's degree in Media & Communications at Salem State University. Before declaring my major, I was studying to one day hopefully becoming a physical therapist. While my young dream didn't get fulfilled, I am thankful for the knowledge I've gained. Although my career paths have taken a turn, my purpose remains the same, wanting to help those in need. I may not be helping people physically, but I seek to help inform and raise awareness for differently-abled people to the best of my capabilities.
The Paralympic Games are taking place this summer, and I enjoy how the name means parallel to illustrate how two movements exist side-by-side. I have a significant interest in sports, but I do notice that some sports don't have as much advertising & publicity. Take the WNBA, for example, I enjoy the basketball that these athletes play, but I rarely see any commercials or ads about this league or its players. The same could be said about the Paralympics, its great for being inclusive but isn't advertised as much as it should be, and I would love to make as much of an impact as possible.
