Licensed Mental health counselors have at least a master’s degree in counseling or another closely related field in mental health care, they could be Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC).
They usually work in an educational setting, however they can also work in clinical setting or operate in private practices, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and inpatient facilities.
Mental health counselors work with patients of all ages from children to adults and help them manage anxiety, substance abuse, personal, family, work and life situations, diagnosis counseling and other mental health needs. Some specialize in certain areas such as Autism or other disorders and/or disabilities.
