Riv’s Toms River Hub Restaurant offers a new Sensory Friendly Zone called Chase’s Friend Zone. Named after the co-proprietor’s son Chase who is on the Autism Spectrum and is non-verbal.
The dining room can hold up to 45 guest and welcomes kids and their families to a judgement free zone. It also has a separate direct entrance to avoid any noise from the rest of the restaurant, very important to minimize any sensory overload from other noise or lighting from the rest of the restaurant.
The space has sensory equipment usually found in OT sessions. Kids can feel comfortable and are able to move around and play and socialize freely.
Staff has been sensory certified specially those on the autism spectrum.
