The mission of the Arc is to promote and protect the human rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and actively supporting their full inclusion and participation in the community throughout their lifetimes. The Arc fights every day to protect civil rights and access to vital programs, such as Medicaid, for those with intellectual and developmental disabilities. They host scholarships for eligible families of color or low-income families to those who are a part of their Special Education Advocacy Curriculum. The Arc ensured that the federal government helped people with disabilities with an eviction moratorium and foreclosure protections and provided funding for essential housing programs. The Arc fought to make sure that people with IDD were not discriminated against and forgotten in the face of this once-in-a-lifetime public health crisis. In their 70-year lifetime, they managed to have over 130,000 workers, and provided support across 48 states.
