NuPrisma Grants Awarded in December 2023
We would like to thank everyone who participated in our grant this year, the applicants and everyone who made the grant possible 4th year in a row. We hope to continue to our grant in the years to come.
Meet our 2023 NuPrisma Grant recipients:
Finn W. – OH
Finn is an amazing 8 year old boy from OH, at the age of 4 he was diagnosed with visual impairment Amblyopia and at 5 he had to battle with Leukemia and was also diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder called Witteveen Kolk Syndrome. This great little warrior will need to continue speech, physical and visual therapy. This grant will help contribute towards those services not covered by insurance.
Mykari B. – MD
Mykari is a sweet little 2.5 year old boy on the Autism Spectrum and sensory processing disorder, dislikes noise and crowds. He enjoys spinning and is adventurous. The grant will help with sensory equipment to help with Mykari’s sensory needs.
Kandance P. – OH
Kandance is a 12 year old currently in 6th grade, she loves books and is an avid reader, her favorite being graphic novels. She is on the Autism Spectrum, she is a social girl, and sometimes gets overstimulated by people and will take breaks by herself to read, swing on the swings, or bounce on a yoga ball or jump on the trampoline. She is currently focusing on improving social cues and understanding social language and behavior. The grant will help towards enrichment programs to make this possible.
Braylyn and Leeam B. – PA
Braylyn and leeam enjoy swimming, reading, and camping. They are on the Autism Spectrum and while they are in academic advanced classes such as Honors English and Honors Algebra they have a very difficult time engaging in activities outside the home. The grant will help assist with socialization skills and enrichment programs.
Heather T. – NY
Heather absolutely adores spending time with her nephew, playing all sorts of board games, and getting creative with her niece, on craft projects. They have a great bond. Heather faces some unique challenges due to her spastic quadriplegia and legal blindness. But that doesn’t stop her from fully enjoying these activities! She always tackles everything with a big smile on her face. Heather has been facing difficulty in terms of strength, endurance, and managing her pain levels. The grant will help her continue therapy so she can continue enjoying her time with her family and friends.
NuPrisma was founded to empower people with disabilities and/or special needs with resources that will contribute to a more accessible and inclusive world. We are hoping we can continue to grow and help other more individuals and their families. We encourage everyone to share about us and our work with friends, family and together be part of a community that strives to makes a positive impact in the lives of individuals with disabilities or special needs.
