First NuPrisma Grant Awarded in December 2020

The NuPrisma Grant Committee has completed the review of all grant applications, and we are pleased to let you know that Joseph D. from Coram, NY has been selected to be the recipient of this year’s NuPrisma Grant in the amount of ($500) Five Hundred Dollars. This is the first of what we hope many Grants we will provide.

His mom, Sharon, who applied on behalf of Joey, let us know what a wonderful, sweet, smart and a happy little boy he is. Even though he is minimally verbal in expressive language due to his severe Apraxia, he works very hard with his therapists who love him and support him. These therapies are essential to his development and rate of success in his journey.

Joey is very aware that he sounds different and that many people do not understand his speech and as a result it triggers some social anxiety and self confidence issues, something many report as trickle down effect with Apraxia and other disabilities. Joey receives hippotherapy with Prompt as well as Speech with Prompt. These therapies along with positive reinforcements have proven to increase his confidence, he is so happy when he is understood by others and is so proud of himself when he sees someone does understand his speech. Despite of all the challenges that comes with Apraxia, his determination and full support from his family and therapists  will provide him with the confidence and tools to succeed.

We are very happy to provide the first NuPrisma Grant to Joey and be able to make a difference in his life, whether the grant its applied to his Hippotherapy with Prompt and/or Speech Therapy with Prompt, we look forward to hearing more about his journey. We wish Joey and his family nothing but the best and success in everything he does.
